our Mission
Comma Bookstore & Social Hub is more than a bookstore—we are a space for connection, culture, and collective knowledge. As Flint’s only Black-owned bookstore, we specialize in literature, art, and activism from African diasporic voices, fostering a community that values storytelling, critical thought, and social change.
Through our nonprofit, the Arts Clinic, we extend this mission by supporting creative projects, amplifying underrepresented narratives, and preserving Black cultural heritage. Our Black Archive Reading Room serves as a living repository, housing rare books, periodicals, and ephemera that document Black experiences across time. By merging literature, community engagement, and archival preservation, we create a space where history informs the present, and knowledge inspires action.
Join us in building a future where books, art, and history are tools for liberation.
