Our Mission:

The Arts Clinic is our 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to harnessing the enriching influence of inclusive literacy and diverse artistic mediums to empower communities. Through dynamic collaboration with local artists, authors, creatives and community leaders, we orchestrate workshops, programs, and events that passionately uphold our commitment to cultivating accessible arts. Our focus on underserved populations fuels our mission, as we ignite participation and engagement, enabling individuals to champion their neighborhoods through the compelling language of the arts.

Our programs

  • Books Not Jail

We believe that reading is a RIGHT not a PRIVILEGE. Our ‘Books not Jail’ program offers free books and workshops to youth who have had interactions with the criminal justice system.

  • Garvey University

This program is designed for students to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of black history and culture through literature, art, and interactive programs. Our 2024 class is taking a Black History Tour to Chicago, IL.

  • Our cultural programming

Our curated cultural and literacy programs give Flint residents an opportunity to engage with change makers, artists and thinkers.
