Black Archive Reading Room
The Black Archive Reading Room at Comma Bookstore & Social Hub is a dedicated space for preserving, studying, and engaging with Black history, literature, and cultural memory. Rooted in our commitment to archival preservation and community education, this reading room serves as a resource for scholars, artists, activists, and the general public to explore the rich and diverse narratives of the Black experience.
What We Offer
Rare Books & Periodicals – A curated collection of out-of-print and historically significant works by Black authors, scholars, and activists.
Ephemera & Archival Materials – Flyers, pamphlets, zines, posters, audiovisuals and other cultural artifacts that document Black social movements, artistic expressions, and community histories.
Research & Study Space – A quiet and welcoming environment for independent research, study groups, and curious individuals.
Workshops & Public Programming – Events focused on archival practices, Black storytelling, and historical preservation, featuring guest speakers, researchers, and cultural practitioners.
Digital Access & Preservation – Select materials available for digital consultation, ensuring long-term accessibility and engagement with historical resources.
